Facebook’s Sexist Default Profile Picture is of a Male Silhouette

Dear Facebook Representative,
why is your sexist profile picture, for people who have not uploaded a photo, that of a man or boy in silhouette?
Is Facebook so sexist that they only regard boys and men as users?  Or that women and girls will just have to assume that they’re included when really they’ve been explicitly excluded?
How would you like it if we showed all pictures of a girl in silhouette and all of the boys and men had to just assume that they were automatically to be included into that default category?
Thank you
– Daniela

  1. I agree! I’ve often thought about that too.

  3. acctually, if you put your gender as female, it is a female silhouette, and male if you put male. Get your info right, and get a grip. All youre doing is reinforcing the negative stereotype of a feminist.

  4. Yep…get a life. As a female I agree you need to find something better to do.

  5. I completely agree. Also, in one of the default apps where you can find out your luck on a scale, the default gender is male. They posted my friend’s results as: “Emily found out HIS luck”!!! She’s a girl, for heaven’s sake! Why not have a place where you can choose your gender for the game results. It is a male-dominated world after all…sigh…

  6. There are more important things in life than your supposed inequality. Think about mistreated, abused, abandoned children or numerous other real problems…get your mind off yourself!

  9. Personal if the default pic was a female silhouette i wouldn’t mind a single bit, in fact I probably wouldn’t be able to care less about it.

    Go bitch about something else.
